wording

This New York Times headline definitely forced a couple of rereadings (click to enlarge if it's too small for your old eyeballs):

I honestly could not parse that sentence until I clicked to read the article and saw that "I Want Revenge" is the name of the horse. I knew a crazy horse name was involved,* but the combination of the complete-sentence name and that headline grammar ("Verb To Be Omitted from Passive-voice Construction") threw me for a loop. Where did the horse-name end and the rest of the sentence begin? And if you imagine not knowing what the Kentucky Derby is, then you've really got an amazing mess of nonsense.

"Oh, shit...we've only got 307 in here! Quick, run out and find someone from the street, anyone, before somebody calls the cops!" I probably could have come up with a better joke about this, but come on, I've got a life to live.
